Our value is helping you find works by "sound texture" and "sense of closeness" — qualities a plain keyword search alone can't capture.
ASMR is a genre where it's hard to even know what to search for. What sounds pleasant varies completely from person to person, and that preference is difficult to put into words. Searching "ear cleaning" just returns an overwhelming number of results — in the end, finding the one video that suits you meant playing and closing dozens of clips.
ASMR Compass was built to turn that "time spent searching" into "time spent listening." We classify hundreds of thousands of videos and works from our own unique angle, aiming for a search experience you can work backward from your mood.
At the core of the site is our in-house classification engine, Azimuth. "Azimuth" means a compass bearing, and we named it for the direction the compass (ASMR Compass) points to. It analyzes every video and work we collect mechanically rather than by hand, converting them into the two proprietary metrics below.
What most shapes ASMR preference is how close the voice or breath feels. Azimuth analyzes the audio characteristics of each video and sorts it into 5 levels of our proprietary "Humidity" scale — from Lv1 (Dry), just ambient and everyday sounds, up to Lv5 (Max Humidity), dominated by mouth sounds and ear-touching sounds. This is an axis unique to ASMR Compass that you won't find on typical video sites. See the Humidity guide for details.
"What kind of sound (Material)," "how it was recorded (Recording Technique)," "what's happening (Action)," "who's performing (Character)," "where the sound is from (Location)," and "what it's for (Purpose)" — Azimuth classifies every piece of content from these six angles and assigns about 170 different tags. Each tag's meaning is explained in the Tag Dictionary.
Until now, free YouTube videos and paid audio works sold on DLsite could only be searched in separate places. Because Azimuth handles both under the same classification system, you can compare what you can listen to for free against full-fledged paid works side by side in a single search result.
Metadata for videos and works (titles, thumbnails, view counts, prices, and more) is regularly collected from the YouTube Data API and DLsite's public information, and updated daily. Humidity and tag classification is performed automatically by the Azimuth engine, and we continuously re-classify content to improve accuracy.
Videos are played through YouTube's official embedded player, so view counts are correctly credited to the creator's channel. Purchasing or previewing DLsite works takes you to DLsite's official page. This site does not copy or redistribute the content itself.
